Legoland Hotel
The LEGOLAND California Resort will open the LEGOLAND Hotel in the summer of 2013. The 250-room hotel is being designed to give guests the same interactive family experience that has brought success to LEGOLAND California, Sea Life Carlsbad Aquarium and the LEOGLAND Water Park. Created to bring young children’s imaginations to life, the LEGO themed hotel will feature brightly colored LEGO decor, a pool area and restaurant. Legoland Hotel will be the first of its kind in North America. While this is the first LEGOLAND Hotel in the United States, it will be the third in the world following LEGOLAND Windsor Hotel’s opening in 2012 in England and LEGOLAND Billund, which opened a 176-room LEGOLAND Hotel in 1991 in Denmark. The LEGOLAND California Resort is geared for families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. You will find more than 60 rides, shows and attractions including a waterpark and all-new Star Wars Miniland.
Family Fun in Scottsdale
Through December 31, the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale entices you with their FUN Family Vacation package with a $100 per day resort credit, guaranteed connecting rooms or a suite upgrade and three meals a day for your children 12 and under for just $18 per day. New Four Seasons
A new Four Seasons Hotel is set to open this November in Baltimore’s Harbor East amongst an array of dining, shopping and family-friendly attractions including the National Aquarium, Camden Yards and the Maryland Science Center. The 256-room hotel will feature the largest hotel art collection in the city (featuring purchased and commissioned pieces by Washington Color School and other contemporary artists), a Michael Mina restaurant, spa, gym and infinity pool. The luxury resort chain also recently announced it will build a new property for the Walt Disney World Resort with a scheduled opening in 2014. The development will offer a 444-room Four Seasons resort plus up to 40 Four Seasons Residence Club units and up to 90 Four Seasons private residences. Also planned are several dining venues including a rooftop restaurant with Magic Kingdom views; a 14,000-square-foot spa with 18 treatment rooms; a fitness center; three pools and a “lazy river”; sports facilities with tennis courts, basketball court and a climbing wall and two recreational centers for children, teens and families. The development will encompass the existing Osprey Ridge golf course, which will be renovated and subsequently managed by Four Seasons.
Omni Kids Fantasy Suites
The Omni San Francisco; Omni Mount Washington Resort in Bretton Woods, NH and the Omni Parker House in Boston, MA now feature one-of-a-kind Omni Kid’s Fantasy Suites with kid’s furniture, colorful bedding, beanbag chairs, art table, games and books with a connecting room available for the rest of the family. The deluxe chain’s Texas Sensory Kid Suites at 5 Lone Star State properties in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio have also been designed to stimulate the senses of young travelers with colorful bedding, beanbag chairs, an art table, board games, books, cozy bath robes, aquatic-themed bath accessories and a complimentary Kids’ Sensation Bar filled with toys, trinkets and snacks. On arrival, your children will also receive an Omni Sensational Kids backpack made of reusable material which carries a “Discovery” map with travel games, washable crayons, a magnifying glass and more. The backpack can be used throughout their trip to gather trinkets and treasures from their daily travels. At the end of your first day, kids are treated to cookies and milk in their guest room.
Teens Rock in Tucson
The JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort & Spa in Tucson recently opened the hip Blur Teen Lounge. Blur features games, technology, movies, and funky furnishings for guests age 13 to 19. Open holidays and every Friday and Saturday, the teen club offers two Apple iPads for teens to access their email or social media accounts; an Xbox 360 game system with motion-tracking Kinect games; a new PlayStation 3Move game system with motion gaming technology; two 42-inch LCD HDTVs for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation gaming area; a movie area with a 46-inch LCD HDTV and a library of DVDs; and couches and lounge chairs. On week-end nights from 7:30-10:30 p.m., Blur will offer a Poptail Hour, during which teens can help prepare their own signature soda drink, participate in video gaming challenges, and catch a movie in the lounge’s theater area. Free Dining at Disney
Free dining is back at Walt Disney World if you book by October 29, 2011 with at least a four night stay and Magic Your Way package with airport transfers, hotel room and park tickets included. Book a Disney Value Resort and your family will receive a free Quick-Service Dining Plan or book a package at select Disney Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resorts and get a free Disney Dining Plan. Your package includes accommodations, a Magic Your Way base ticket, and the dining plan. Travel between October 2, 2011 and March 31, 2012, but several black-out dates apply. With the Disney Dining Plan, children ages 3 to 9 must order from children’s menu if available. The offer excludes gratuities and alcoholic beverages. Some table-service restaurants may have limited or no availability at time of package purchase; so it’s wise to book early!

The Ritz Carlton Palm Beach is showcasing a new teen club called Coast for ages 13-17. Your teens can create their own DJ mix and upload it to their iPod, play video games, surf the internet, play billiards, or just hang out and play pool or Guitar Hero. On many nights, Coast becomes a teen-friendly club with music and dancing. There is also an upscale salon for teens called Beauty@Coast where make-up application, hair styling, manicures, dress-up and more can be commemorated with a glamour shot.
