For 2015, Abercrombie and Kent is discounting their Luxury Small Group Family Journeys by $800 and their lower priced Connection Family Journeys by $400 for children ages 12 and under. Next year will feature 10 new itineraries and destinations to China, India, Australia/New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Russia, Amsterdam/Paris/London, Peru and Costa Rica to existing trips to Galapagos, Alaska and African Safaris in Kenya and Tanzania. Every day includes at least one Family Discovery: a chance for your children to connect to their destination by interacting with nature, culture and local children. The highlight of an A&K family tour is a maximum of 18 travelers for the Luxury Small Group tours and 24 for the Connections trips in addition to a custom photo souvenir album of your trip. The Luxury Small Group Journeys also include a dedicated Young Explorers Guide on certain days to lead your children and grandchildren in hands-on cultural activities and midtrip laundry services to help you pack light.

New From Backroads
For 2015, Backroads has added a new category called Family Breakaway for those traveling with teens and young adults. Choose from 13 Family Breakaway Bike trips and two Family Breakaway Multi-Sport trips with either upscale or casual lodging options. Trip leaders are more peers than chaperones and nightlife option include live music and urban cultural activities which can be done as a family or with young adults going out on the town on their own. These trips also focus on popular gateway cities as jumping off points and where many of our families have college students studying abroad or may want to study abroad in the future. In addition, Backroads is adding eight new Family Bike trips, four new Family Multisport trips and two new Family Insider trips (with more in depth cultural interactions). Safari with Teens
A new family package from Robin Pope Safaris is specially designed for families with teenage travelers. The 10-night Family Safari Package traverses the southern region of Africa, with highlights that include Victoria Falls, South Luangwa National Park and Lake Malawi. Families will stay at the Stanley Safari Lodge; Robin’s House, the former home of legendary safari guide Robin Pope; and Pumulani, on the banks of Lake Malawi. SITA World Tours for Families
SITA World Tours has released a new line of multigenerational programs to suit large family groups traveling together. Entitled Family Friendly Journeys, these new itineraries were launched in response to increasing demand for multigenerational travel options. At present, SITA is offering Family Friendly Journeys in China, Vietnam, Israel, Kenya and Thailand. By the end of the year, SITA plans to expand its family options with programs in Peru, Galapagos, Brazil and Turkey. Each program is built for a minimum of two passengers and is recommended for ages 6 and up. They all include a variety of cultural experiences, excellent hotel options and interesting daily tours.
Harry Potter’s London
Sceptre Tours’ is now offering a 6-night Harry Potter’s London package.

A&K’s Connections
Two years after launching its lower-priced Connections by A&K product line, luxury tour operator Abercrombie & Kent is expanding the popular offering to include family departures. A&K will offer Connections Family Journeys to 10 destinations — Amsterdam, Paris, London, South Africa, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Italy and Russia. Each tour is designed to be suitable for travelers of all ages, with engaging local guides, fun and enriching activities, and child-friendly hotels. For example, Italy: A Family Journey includes learning pizza making in Rome, painting Venetian Carnival masks and having lunch with a family who produces balsamic vinegar.
Preferred Families
The Preferred Hotel Group’s Preferred Family certified properties in Europe have created a number of activity-driven programs especially for families. For example in Italy, families can learn Italian together at Castello di Casole, a 4,200-acre, all-suite estate in the Tuscan countryside, via 90-minute language sessions that use fun, real-world applications – like ordering dolci and gelato. The property also offers family bike rides, pizza making and ceramic painting. At the K Club, a luxury 19th century chateau estate near Dublin, the property enlists a local guide to teach families to fly fish. Learn how to bait a hook, cast a rod and reel in fish in the River Liffey. When parents and grandparents want to sneak off for a round of golf or the spa, your children can ride horses or learn cricket and archery. The Preferred Family Certification program qualifies hotels based on their offerings for children from infants to teenagers, requiring them to meet comprehensive age-specific criteria in five categories: hotel amenities, facilities, programs, services, and entertainment. The collection includes more than 260 family-friendly hotels in 47 countries.
Tauck Bridges in Africa
Tauck Bridges in collaboration with BBC Earth has added two new and exciting Africa trips for 2015. Book now before they sell out! The South Africa: Epic Family Adventure is a 10 day tour that includes visits to Cape Town, the Garden Route and a safari camp in Sabi Sands. Unique experiences include an elephant walk, a private lecture on the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, bike tour of Soweto, ostrich rides and more. Tanzania: A Grand Family Safari is an 11 day tour that includes Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti (two different safari camps) and Karatu.
