Moana Explorers in Tahiti
Paul Gauguin Cruises will host its Moana Explorer Program for younger guests and their families on 21 dedicated summer and holiday sailings in 2023 and 2024. Tailored to children ages seven to 15, the unique program is offered in collaboration with Te mana o te moana, a South Pacific marine education and conservation foundation, and is designed to engage children with hands-on, interactive activities both on board and ashore showcasing the natural wonders and unique cultures of the South Pacific. The program is geared to children and teens. From visiting a sea turtle care center to playing real-life beach “Survivor” games, hiking volcanic mountains, and snorkeling in pristine lagoons, the program goes far beyond the formulaic structure of children’s programs on other lines. Depending on the itinerary, your children can explore underwater life, conduct water experiments, create natural jewelry, go on a treasure hunt, learn about Tahitian culture, discover island legends and geology, design a Polynesian tattoo, and more. The program is available throughout the summer months.

Connect at Sea
Royal Caribbean Group recently implemented SpaceX’s Starlink, making it the first in the cruise industry to adopt its high-speed, low-latency connectivity fleetwide. The broadband internet service will be installed on all current Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and Silversea Cruises ships, along with any new ships that come out moving forward. Installation across the company’s fleet is scheduled for completion by the end of the first quarter of 2023. The new service will improve and enable more high-bandwidth activities like video streaming as well as activities like video calls. Starlink is an interconnected internet network of thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit that SpaceX envisions will deliver high-speed internet anywhere on the planet. The company has launched about 2,700 satellites to date!

RCCL’s Credit Extension
This month, Royal Caribbean International kindly announced that any unredeemed Royal Caribbean Cruise with Confidence future cruise credits (FCCs) will no longer expire. The change in this policy also applies to Celebrity Cruises. This extension pertains to credits you received during the pandemic between 2020 and early 2022. Note that if you received a voucher for 125% of your cruise fare, the new rule only applies to 100% of the fare. The rest of the value will still expire on the original date. We have been told that RCCL’s system will still show an expiration date, and it will be moving that date to one far in the future. All other FCC types from the cruise line remain unchanged and they will continue to enforce the expiration date noted on the credit. Many cruise lines continue to use full and partial Future Cruise Credits (FCCs) for other cruise-related issues as well, such as when a cruise is canceled due to a mechanical issue, or if an itinerary is significantly altered. Bon voyage!
