Travel Tip: Planning Ahead

December 28, 2016

Families like yours from around the country come to us for their travel arrangements because they appreciate our expertise and service, but also because you are really busy!  Many of our families come to us at the last minute because they have been too busy to even think about, much less plan, a needed and deserved getaway.  So why not take the time at the years end to figure out where you would like to travel as a family for the next few years?  Before you know it, your children will be off to college (or there already!).  Here are some ways to get started by gathering as a family and answering a few questions:

What are your vacation goals?  Some families just need to chill and relax.  Others want a trip that is more educational or to expose yourself to new cultures, wildlife, etc.  Others want a combination or something completely different.  Not all families can even agree on this matter.

What destinations are on your wish list?  Write down any and all options.  Fantasize about where you have always wanted to travel.  We can work with you to help determine the best overall options.

What are your trip budgets?  A rough and realistic budget is always helpful and can be readjusted each year.

When can you travel in 2017 or the year you are planning that really special trip celebration?  Take a look at school calenders, work schedules and other commitments to block some space well in advance.  And again when the next school calendar comes out.  Our travel insurance covers cancellation for work reasons in most states.

How active do you want to be?  We can help you find recreation that works for all the ages in your family or you can split up for some; so that different aged children can still experience your destination at their level.

What type of experiences do you seek?  Again it is hard to please everyone, but we can recommend the options that work for all ages.   Write down all of your interests in regards to destinations, experiences, adventures, special interests, etc.  We can easily adjust as we tick off each trip.

Don’t forget a getaway just for you!  Whether married, dating, single or traveling with adult friends. We have plenty of great adult getaways to recommend and plan too!
