Aman in the DR

July 29, 2015

Amanera, a new property from Aman Resorts, is due to open along the north coast of the Dominican Republic by the end of the year. This would be Aman’s second Caribbean property, joining the Amanyara in Turks and Caicos.  The 2,000-acre clifftop resort will be the first golf-integrated Aman property, sited along the fairways and greens of the Playa Grande golf course.  Amanera draws its name from the Sanskrit-derived word for “peace” and “era,” the amaneraword for water in Taino, a language spoken by the indigenous people of the Caribbean.  Accommodations are 25 casitas that feature the use of natural materials, such as stone from local quarries, handmade tiles and Dominican art and artifacts. Each casita has an ocean view, expansive terrace, outdoor seating and lounge areas, and high-ceilinged living and sleeping areas.  Some will have private pools.  The luxury resort will also offer a children’s program, beach club with water sports, restaurants, gym and golf.
